About the boat
Zafiro is a very special sailing boat. At 25.5 meters long and made from aluminium, it was originally built for the prestigious Whitbread Round the World Regatta (now the Volvo Ocean Race), where it sailed twice under the name UBF (Union Bank Finland).
Designed to excel in long-distance voyages, Zafiro is the perfect vessel for anything from coastal cruising to ocean crossings, combining speed, safety, and comfort.
Built in 1988 as a Bénéteau - Super Maxi IOR 82.5, Zafiro offers: 5 spacious cabins, comfortably accommodating up to 10 passengers on extended ocean voyages and 3 bathrooms, providing comfort and convenience throughout the journey.
With a strong ocean racing heritage, your safety is assured in all weather and sea conditions. A flat deck gives high performance and also lots of space to watch (or help!) our experienced crew sail this impressive boat.

Ariel Formaggio is a true expert of the seas with over 15 years of experience sailing the Caribbean, Atlantic and Mediterranean seas. Having crossed the Atlantic 9 times, he brings unmatched expertise and a deep love for the ocean.
As a skilled boat mechanic, he ensures that your voyage is smooth and safe. When he's not navigating, he enjoys cooking gourmet meals and sharing fascinating stories from his adventures at sea.
